Pedestrian struck & killed on Hwy. 401 in Milton

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 401 in Milton, Ontario provincial police say.

The man was taken without vital signs to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident happened on the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 near Guelph Line shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say there was a minor collision and when the victim went out to check the damage to his car he was struck by another vehicle.

“The driver did get out of the vehicle and for unknown reasons he was struck by another eastbound motor vehicle,” Const. Ian Michaels said. “The vehicle that struck the deceased did stay at [the] scene, as well as several witnesses.”

Police are asking for other witness to come forward.

“We’re looking for any other witness who may have seen the vehicle or the male party outside of his vehicle before the collision,” he said.

All eastbound lanes were closed between Guelph Line and Highway 25 while police investigated. But reopened shortly after 9:30 p.m.
