Woman randomly attacked while walking home in city’s north end

A 24-year-old woman is in serious condition after being stabbed in a vicious random attack in the city’s north end on Thursday night.

The woman was walking home from Glencairn Station through Viewmount Park in the Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue area around 10:35 p.m. when police say two men walked up behind her, stabbed her in the back, and ran off with her purse.

Police told CityNews that the woman was able to contact a friend before she passed out, and that friend dialed 911.

She was found unconscious by three passersby who also called for help and waited with her until emergency workers rushed the victim to Sunnybrook hospital.

She underwent surgery and is in the hospital with serious injuries but is now in stable condition.

The suspects are described as two young black males, about 16-to-25 years old and both wearing dark clothing.

Police are also asking people in the neighbourhood to keep an eye out for the purse, which may have been dropped by the suspects. It’s described as dark blue or black in colour with an image of a tiger embroidered on it.

Police released the following photo of the purse in question:
