3 arrested in string of impaired driving crashes in Toronto

Toronto police have arrested three drivers in connection with a string of collisions across the city allegedly involving alcohol.

In one incident, a vehicle struck a pole and caught on fire at Brimley Road and Progress Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Fire crews arrived to the scene to find a Lexus engulfed in flames. The fire is now out.

No injuries were reported.

The area was closed off for the investigation but has since reopened.

Police were also called to the scene of another alleged impaired driving crash, this one at Markham Road and Markanna Drive.

A vehicle crashed into a pole around 2 a.m., and the driver was taken into police custody.

Paramedics say the two occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital on back boards, but their injuries are not considered serious.

It appears the vehicle was stolen from the Thorncliffe Park area.

And then, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, a man was arrested after his car crashed into eight parked cars in the Old Weston and Davenport roads area. No injuries were reported.

Police are asking the public to call 911 to report a suspected drunk driver.
