Police corner Charlie Hebdo suspects, holed up with hostage: reports

Police in France reportedly have two suspects in the Charlie Hebdo attack cornered in a town northeast of Paris.

According to media reports, the two suspects, Said and Cherif Kouachi, have taken a hostage and are holed up in the building of a large local printing company in Dammartin-en-Goële, about 60 kilometres from Paris.

Hundreds of officers and up to seven police helicopters have surrounded the building.

Before arriving here, the suspects led police on a high speed chase while exchanging gunfire early on Friday morning local time.

They are reportedly heavily armed with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.

Up to 80,000 police officers and military personnel have been involved in the hunt for the suspects.

Helicopters with heat sensors were trying to locate them after they held up a gas station on Thursday.

The operation is affecting flights at nearby Charles de Gaulle airport.

The highway pursuit of the suspects actually took them close to the airport and one of the runways there has been closed.

Twelve people were killed in the shooting on Wednesday including several journalists and two police officers.
