Police are searching for a 43-year-old man after an SUV crashed into a Brampton restaurant Saturday night, injuring three people.
Witnesses said around 8:30 p.m., a man and woman were walking on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant on Clarence Street, near Kennedy Road South and Queen, when the driver started backing up.
The SUV struck the couple, pushing them into the restaurant. A customer sitting inside the restaurant was also injured.
Paramedics said one of the victims was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto in critical condition, and the others were taken to a local hospital. Police said on Sunday all of the victims will recover.
The driver of the SUV allegedly fled the scene and is still at large.
Peel police say they are looking for Edward Bennett of Brampton.
Bennett is described as black and was wearing white clothing at the time of the collision.
Police are asking anyone with information about Bennett’s whereabouts to contact investigators.
