American arrested at Manitoba border crossing after meth lab found in backpack

SPRAGUE, MANITOBA, – Border officers in Manitoba have arrested a man from Minnesota after they found a portable drug production lab in a backpack.
The Canada Border Services Agency says the man’s car was stopped at the border crossing in Sprague on June 4.
Officers found materials for a suspected methamphetamine lab in a backpack in the vehicle.
They also seized a plastic bottle containing 85 grams of what they suspect is meth.
Specialized RCMP officers and firefighters were called in to dismantle the lab.
Derek Olson of Wadena, Minn. is charged with production of methamphetamine, importing/exporting methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
He remains in custody.
