City of Toronto offers online access to property taxes, utility and parking ticket info

It appears the City of Toronto is on a full-fledged modernization kick.

Just six months ago it was announced that Torontonians could start using debit or credit cards to buy TTC tokens. Now the city has announced that residents will be given access to online tools to check their property taxes, utility account details and parking ticket information.

According to a release issued by the city on Tuesday, Torontonians can simply go to toronto.ca/revenueservices to confidentially view information about their city services from their smartphones or computers.

“These online tools are a great example of how the city is modernizing how it serves the public and making life easier for the people of Toronto by providing information and services to residents online,” Toronto Mayor John Tory said in the release.

The next step? Actually allowing people to make payments, too.

“These online portals are a step forward for the City of Toronto and we will continue to move forward, with expanded services and online payment options coming soon,” Tory said.

Until then, Toronto will have to be satisfied with moving into the 1990s but not quite the 2000s.
