‘Child rapists’ arrested after girl, 13, forced into prostitution: police

Three people are facing charges after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly forced into prostitution.

One of the accused is a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named because of her age. At a news conference on Friday, Insp. Joanna Beaven-Desjardins didn’t mince words when it came to describing the suspects.

“What’s even more surprising is the age of the pimps. And pimps, I don’t like to use that term because it’s glorified. They’re child rapists, that’s what they are. They bring them in to have them be sexually assaulted.”

Toronto police say the victim met the 17-year-old girl on Facebook in October.

Beaven-Desjardins said both girls had friends in common, which enabled the accused to create a “fake friendship” with the girl and lure her away from her home.

The older teen allegedly told the girl they could make a lot of money with her boyfriend, co-accused Kahmal Paris, 22. At that point, police say the female already knew the victim was only 13 years old.

The 13-year-old girl was told to go to Paris’ home in Toronto, where she met up with the female suspect and was introduced to her boyfriend the next day. While she was there, she also met the third suspect, 19-year-old Alekal Allan.

The girl was told she would be required to perform sex acts with various clients, but she refused. However, police say she was told it was no longer her choice and she was threatened with physical violence if she didn’t cooperate.

The three suspects allegedly took the girl to Niagara Falls where they rented hotel rooms. Paris and the female took photos of victim in various stages of undress, and placed them in online escort ads offering sexual services.

Beaven-Desjardins said during her three days in Niagara Falls, Paris sexually assaulted the victim three times. She was then taken to Guelph and then back to Toronto.

While in Toronto, she was forced to provide sexual services to men in various hotels and private residences in the Toronto and Brampton area. She was also beaten by Paris, police said.

On Nov. 9, the girl managed to escape when Paris stepped out. She fled and approached a passerby who then called police. The three suspects were arrested on Nov. 18 and have appeared in court.

Paris is charged with 12 offences that include trafficking of a person under the age 18, three counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, uttering threats, and making child pornography.

Allan is charged with two offences, one of which is trafficking of a person under the age 18. The female who was wanted on an outstanding robbery warrant faces eight charges, including trafficking and making child pornography.

Beaven-Desjardins said those who use the services are equally to blame as the predators.

“If there was not a demand for sex with a child, then there would not be a need for predators like this to force our children into the sex trade for monetary gain,” she said.

Beaven-Desjardins said this was a “disturbing investigation” and believe there may be more victims.
