Minor hockey coach, babysitter, charged with sex assault

A babysitter who also worked as a minor hockey coach has been charged with sexual assault.

Durham police say the alleged incidents occurred in the mid-1990s. The victim, now an adult, recently came forward.

The victim said the accused rented the basement apartment of his family’s Pickering home. The accused would often babysit the victim and his siblings.

Police allege assaults lasted from 1995 to 1999, and took place in three different locations: The Pickering home, an Uxbridge home, and a home in Tiverton.

The suspect moved to London in 1999, where he coached minor hockey.

Danny Trepanier, 42, of London, surrendered to police on Wednesday. He is charged with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual Interference, two counts of invitation to sexual touching. He is in custody pending a bail hearing.
