Trending: The Story So Far lead singer drop-kicks woman off Mod Club stage

By News Staff

Here’s a tip: If you want to take a selfie, maybe don’t jump on the stage to do it.

That’s what one fan of the band The Story So Far learned the hard way on Sunday night at Toronto’s Mod Club.

In a video posted on YouTube yesterday, lead singer Parker Cannon clears the female fan off the stage with a vicious drop-kick as he breaks into the opening lines of the band’s song High Regard.

The kick is so powerful the girl falls face-first back into the crowd, which roars with approval.

Apparently it’s not the first time Cannon has resorted to drop-kicking a fan into the mosh pit – he did the same thing to a male fan who also tried to get a stage selfie in Houston last summer.

It’s not uncommon for punk fans to jump onstage in order to stage-dive back into the crowd, but stage selfies apparently are more intrusive to the band. Still, fans got to enjoy a show, not potentially get injured.

According to the Mod Club’s general manager, Jorge Dias, the band is no longer welcome at the venue.

“On behalf of the venue we are appalled by the actions of the singer of the band The Story So Far and do not condone these actions by anyone. There was no report of injuries and the venue will not allow the band to play the venue again for their actions. I have never imagined and never seen anything like that at the venue in 14 years in operation. That was a very cowardly act,” Dias said in a statement.

No charges have been laid.

Reaction on Twitter so far has been fairly swift, condemning Cannon’s actions.
