Man, 28, gunned down outside Etobicoke apartment building

A 28-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Etobicoke early Thursday morning, one of three shootings in the city in the past 12 hours.

It happened in a parking lot behind a three-storey apartment building on Vanevery Street, near Royal York Road, around 3 a.m.

He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

A vehicle was seen fleeing the area. There is no word on suspects.

Police said he does not live in the building but was visiting someone at the time. His death marks the city’s 25th homicide of 2016.

 

Police are also investigating a shooting on Yonge Street, north of Bloor. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at hospital.

A security guard was unhurt after a single shot was fired in a security guard’s booth on Dixon Road, near Kipling Avenue, just before 3:30 a.m. on Thursday.
