Uber to deliver puppies to raise awareness for adoptions

Uber will have some special passengers along for the ride on Thursday.

The ride-sharing service says it is teaming up with animal shelters and rescues across Toronto to delivery puppy playdates to your workplace.

It’s part of a plan to help raise awareness of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30.

Companies can order the service by pressing the “puppies” tab on the Uber moblie app between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm.

Uber stresses the puppies will only be delivered to offices – not to homes – so make sure your boss and the building is okay with it, that you have a dedicated room for playtime and that no other animals will be present in the space.

Once the puppies arrive, you will have 15 minutes of canine cuteness. Uber points out that the puppies will be in very high demand and availability will be limited.

The service costs $30 and all puppies featured are available for adoption. All proceeds will be donated to seven shelters and rescue centres: TEAM Dog Rescue, Snookie’s Little Rescue, Dog Tales, Rescue Dog Match, Dire Woofs, Finding Them Homes and Humane Society of Durham Region.
