Fresh Taste Produce strike ends after workers ratify agreement

By News Staff

A strike by employees at Fresh Taste Produce, which supplies food to independent grocers like Rabba, is over, the union representing workers announced on Tuesday.

Teamster Local Union 419 said on its Facebook page that its members have ratified an agreement.

“Great work Bargaining team as we all know it was a tough one,” the union wrote.

Workers walked off the job on April 21 and began picketing at the Ontario Food Terminal near The Queensway and Park Lawn Road, slowing down traffic in the area.

Union member Ken Dean told CityNews at the time that they were fighting to obtain their first collective agreement.

“Everything is outstanding,” he said. “It’s down to monetary issues: pensions, benefits and wages.”

Details of the deal haven’t been announced.
