Two people are facing charges after police raided a marijuana dispensary in Toronto.

Toronto police executed a search warrant at THC 416 on Dundas Street West, near Dufferin Street, on Thursday afternoon.

Daniel DeBeer, 26, and Tom Van Nguyen, 31, both from Toronto, were each charged with possession of a Schedule II substance, possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

They appeared in court on Friday.

The raid was the latest in the police service’s ongoing efforts to target pot shops in the city.

Earlier this summer, police raided four marijuana dispensaries downtown — two Cannabis Culture and two Canna Clinic locations — and arrested 23 people.

Many have criticized the raids as being heavy-handed, especially with legalization looming, but police Chief Mark Saunders has said the arrests were a result of numerous community complaints, as well as health concerns regarding unregulated products.
