Watermain break floods part of Pickering Town Centre

Part of the Pickering Town Centre is off limits to shoppers after a watermain break caused a flood.
The lower level of the mall on Kingston Road near Liverpool Road is closed after contractors apparently hit a watermain outside while working on a new Cineplex theatre overnight.
The food court is closed and all escalators and elevators have been shut down for safety reasons.
Santa’s castle is also closed but the jolly old elf is hanging out on the upper level and people are invited to take their own photos.
Mall officials say the stores in the Sears and Hudson’s Bay wings are open.
It’s not yet known when the lower level stores will be able to reopen.
Crews are currently in the process of mopping up and assessing any damage.
