The first GTA baby of 2017 was born right at the stroke of midnight.
Trillium Health Partners says a baby boy weighing in at just over 3.4 kg (7 pounds, 6 ounces) was delivered at Mississauga Hospital at 12 a.m.
The hospital says both mom and child are healthy and well.
Markham Stouffville Hospital tweeted out its first baby of 2017 arrived one second after midnight.

Michael Garron Hospital, formerly Toronto East General, reported its first baby of 2017 arrived at 12:04 a.m.
Scarborough and Rouge Hospital reports a pair of babies were born to bookend the end of one year and the start of the next. A baby girl missed being the first Toronto baby of 2017, coming into the world nine minutes before midnight. Just before 2 a.m., the hospital says its first baby of the new year was born, a baby boy, who was not scheduled to be delivered until January 4th.
Durham Region’s first baby of 2017 clocked in at 4:09 a.m. at Lakeridge Health’s Ajax-Pickering hospital, a baby boy weighing in at just over 2.7 kg (6 pounds, 13 ounces).
