Four critically injured in head-on crash northwest of Toronto

Four people are in critical condition after a two-car crash northwest of Toronto.

Police said two others have non-life-threatening injuries.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Airport Road, north of Dufferin County Road, in the town of Mono.

When police arrived they found two “badly mangled” cars. It took crews 90 minutes to extricate one person, who was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital.

Another patient, a woman in her 40s who was a passenger in the back seat of one of the cars, was airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital.

A third person was taken to a trauma centre by ambulance.

Ornge was told it was a high-speed crash.

OPP tell 680 News they are also seeking a third vehicle, a blue Audi or Volkswagen they say fled the scene after striking one of the other vehicles involved in the crash.
