An employee was killed inside a Purolator facility in Etobicoke on Tuesday.
Purolator confirmed the death to CityNews & 680 News on Wednesday.
The man was allegedly trying to clear a jam in the conveyor belt before he was crushed inside, an anonymous tipster told CityNews.
Toronto police say they were called to the area before 6 a.m. and an unconscious man was transported to hospital. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.
The man’s name has not been released.
Purolator’s employee community Facebook group posted a statement on the death on their page. It reads in part: “This morning one of our brothers at the Ontario hub was killed after being caught up in a conveyor belt. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
According to commenters and a link source by the group, the victim was about 50 years old.
