Community housing fire near Jane and Finch sends 3 to hospital

Three people are in hospital after an apartment fire in a Toronto Community Housing building in the Jane and Finch area early Wednesday morning.

The two-alarm fire broke out at the low-rise building on Arleta Avenue, near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West, around 12:40 a.m.

The building houses seniors and families.

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and minor burns. Two other people were also treated for smoke inhalation.

TTC buses were used to shelter those who were evacuated from the building. Residents have since been allowed back in.

The fire was quickly knocked down. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
