Man arrested after gas lines cut near Bloor-Yonge

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after two gas lines were cut near Bloor and Yonge streets on Monday.

Toronto police and fire crews were called to the scene around 10 p.m.

Police say a gas line was cut on Asquith Avenue and Park Road, and another one on Balmuto Street.

Following a 911 tip, the suspect was caught in the act of trying to cut a third gas line at an apartment building on Charles Street West. The third gas line was damaged.

The suspect is facing charges of mischief and endangering life. His name has not been released.

Police say the incidents were random acts and were not targeted.

The gas lines have since been capped.
