By News Staff

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly carjacked a 91-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers initially responded to a call for the theft of a car in the Don Mills and Lawrence Avenue east area around 2:30 p.m.

Police say an elderly man was filling his car with gas when he was approached by the suspect who said the man had a flat tire. He offered to help fill the tire and asked for the keys to the car. When the victim refused, the suspect lunged at him and grabbed the keys. He then got into the car and fled, striking the victim as he drove away.

The extent of the elderly man’s injuries are not known.

The suspect was last seen driving a grey 2009 four-door Hyundai Elantra with the licence plate 053 WCY.

He is described as tall, 40-45 years old with dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a white plastic bag.

Police have released security camera images of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
