Vaughan man identified as victim in fatal shooting

A 24-year-old Vaughan man is dead after a shooting in Woodbridge.

Paramedics were called to a home on Tall Grass Trail, near Highway 7 and Pine Valley Drive, around 7 a.m. on Friday morning where they found a man suffering from serious injuries.

The victim was rushed to hospital where emergency staff discovered he had been shot. The man died a few hours later.

Police have identified the victim as Roy Khan.

Kevin Khemraj Deonath, 29, of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder. He was arrested at a home in Markham around 2:30 p.m. Friday

Deonath is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing early next week.

Police say the suspect did not live in the house where the victim was discovered and add there is no immediate danger to the public.
