Crews met with heavy smoke while responding to Chinatown fire

By News Staff

Fire crews made quick work of a fire that started behind a building in Chinatown on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started on a deck behind a three-storey commercial-residential building on Spadina Avenue, north of Dundas Street West.

When crews arrived at the building around 1:45 p.m., they were met by flames and heavy smoke.

They brought the fire under control within minutes, and also managed to douse flames that spread to the roof of an adjoining unit.

The fire was out by 2:10 p.m.

No one was injured.
