3 Toronto officers injured in Riverdale takedown; suspect at-large

Toronto police are searching for a man who crashed his car into police cruisers during an attempted takedown in Riverdale.

It happened near Gerrard Street and Logan Avenue around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

As officers attempted to arrest an armed suspect they were following in the area, police surrounded a vehicle.

The suspect allegedly hit police cruisers, trying to escape.

Three undercover police officers received minor injuries.

A fruit and vegetable stand was also destroyed. One of the vehicles involved in the takedown went up on the sidewalk and hit the stand.

The suspect, who ran off on foot, is described as a black and at the time was wearing blue jeans and no shoes.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

Police did recover a gun the suspect allegedly tossed during his escape.
