Hospital security guard charged with sex assaults in Newmarket

By News Staff

A 24-year-old security guard who befriended two teens at a Newmarket hospital has been charged with sexually assaulting them, police say.

Last month, a 16-year-old girl said the guard — who was working on contract at Southlake Regional Health Centre — sexually assaulted her off hospital grounds after his shift. She was familiar with him from a previous visit to the hospital.

While officers were investigating, a 19-year-old woman came forward and said she was also befriended by the guard while at the hospital. It’s alleged he sexually assaulted her after she left the hospital.

Pabiram Ravichandran, of Aurora, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

He is due to appear in court on Sept. 13.
