1 man in serious condition after shooting in Mississauga

A 20-year-old man is in serious condition after a shooting in Mississauga on Monday evening.

Peel regional police received a call at around 7 p.m. for shots being fired in the Fieldgate Drive and Bloor Street area.

Police say there was an altercation between 4 or 5 individuals which resulted in one of them being shot.

When officers arrived on scene they located the victim with obvious signs of trauma. He was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

A witness said the victim initially fell to the ground and then went to a nearby gas station to get help. The other individuals involved fled in different directions and one of them drove away in a vehicle.

Police have identified the suspect vehicle connected with the incident. They are looking for a grey 2006 Pontiac Torrent with license plate number CCMS 880.

An investigation is ongoing. Police said officers will canvass the area to gather witness statements and any security footage or dashcam videos that might be available.
