Hamilton police have arrested a man accused of running several online scams.
Police said the man has been offering bogus products and services such as concert tickets and sports memorabilia online, and refusing to honour the sales after receiving money.
The man is also accused of creating a fake Kijiji advertisement for cottage rentals and cutting off communication with prospective renters after taking their money.
On Thursday, a search warrant was executed at an east Hamilton address and Jacob Miranda was arrested.
Police say the 25-year-old Hamilton man has been scamming people across Canada since 2010.
Authorities are warning people to do their research before renting a property, and to be wary of any ads that don’t give the exact address of the rental.
As well, people should avoid any ads that request payment through wire transfer, money order, or cashier’s cheque.
