Man charged after sex-trade worker allegedly choked, sexually assaulted

Toronto police have made an arrest in a sexual assault that happened downtown almost a year ago.

It is alleged that on the evening of Oct. 17, 2016, a man driving a white SUV approached a female sex-trade worker standing on the sidewalk in the Dundas Street East and River Street area.

The woman allegedly got into the car and was driven to a secluded area where a violent struggle ensued. The woman was allegedly choked and sexually assaulted.

Police said she was able to escape the vehicle and the man drove away.

On Saturday, Neville Blake, 30, of Whitby, was arrested and charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, choking and uttering death threats.
