U-Haul truck, driver sought in Markham suspicious death investigation

York regional police are searching for a vehicle of interest in connection with a suspicious death investigation in Markham.

Police were called to the Stirling Crescent and Denison Street area just before 5 p.m. on Monday.

Michael Khan, 30, was found unconscious on Sterling. Police said he was hit by a vehicle and transported to hospital in serious condition. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

The vehicle did not remain on scene.

On Tuesday, police released a security camera image of a U-Haul truck that was seen in the area at the time. Police are looking to speak with the driver of the truck. It is not clear if any passengers were in the vehicle.

Police are asking anyone who captured dashcam video of the truck to contact them.

Homicide investigators believe the death is suspicious. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
