Toronto organist charged with sexual assault; police concerned there may be other victims

A Toronto organist who plays in multiple churches across the city and the GTA has been charged with sexual assault.

Toronto police say they began investigating after a 19-year-old man was allegedly sexually assaulted in December 2016.

They say the man reportedly went to a home in the Dufferin Street and Glencairn Avenue area on two occasions to practise singing for a choir. He was allegedly sexually assaulted both times.

Michael Taylor, 68, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault on Friday. He was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

Police say Taylor practises with multiple choir groups and has access to other young people. They are concerned there may be other victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
