Second teen arrested in stabbing of 16-year-old last month

A 16-year-old is facing a charge of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of another teen last month in East York.

Police said two boys were in the area of East York Collegiate Institute on February 28, near Coxwell and Cosburn avenues, looking for a 16-year-old boy.

It’s alleged they found the boy at a bus stop and stabbed him repeatedly.

Bystanders came to the boy’s aid and called police around 3:15 p.m. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The two other boys fled the scene.

A 17-year-old was initially arrested and charged with attempted murder.

On Monday, police arrested a second teenager, charging him with attempted murder and several weapons offenses.

Both suspects cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
