Man critically injured in North York mall stabbing

A man in his 20s is fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed at a mall in North York.

Police were called to Empress Walk, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East, around 7 p.m. on Tuesday for reports of a stabbing.

Mall security followed one possible suspect through the plaza until police arrived and took the man into custody.

Police initially said the victim had serious injuries, but later said his injuries are life-threatening. He remains in critical condition as of Wednesday morning.
