The York regional police homicide unit is investigating after a man was found dead inside a vehicle in Richmond Hill on Thursday morning.

In a release, police said they were called to a residence in the Bayswater Avenue and Emily Court area at around 6:50 a.m.

Once on scene, officers found a deceased man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.

“There are circumstances here involving the death that led the investigators to confidently say that we are looking at this as a homicide,” said Const. Laura Nicolle. “In terms of the injuries we are not releasing those details just yet.”

680NEWS spoke with the uncle of the victim who says his nephew was a construction worker who lived in downtown Toronto.

He said his nephew also owned a Jeep, the same type of vehicle he was found dead in and that the family believes the suspects brought the victim to the Richmond Hill area.

Toronto and York police were seen near a condo building at the Air Canada Centre this afternoon, but neither would confirm if it was related to the homicide in Richmond Hill.

When CityNews asked Toronto police about a potential home invasion at the building, they said they are investigating, but didn’t say more, adding it may be related to another incident being investigated by York police.

Police are asking any potential witnesses to come forward.
