“Good news, Vancouver. Starting today, you can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you,” says Freeman in an audio clip posted to TransLink’s YouTube.

The announcements featuring the Academy Award winner is part of an ad campaign created by Visa, which Freeman is currently the voice of.

Visa bought ad space on our system to highlight the ability to pay at fare gates using contactless Visa cards,” explains TransLink in a statement to NEWS 1130.

Freeman’s voice will be heard on select SkyTrain platforms and bus routes from today until June 29, although which stations or routes, TransLink hasn’t said.

In addition to informing people about the new payment system, which allows people to tap their Visa or Mastercard on buses and at SkyTrain gates, Freeman will also be offering general transit etiquette tips.

Those tips might sound something similar to a bit he did on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he narrated the actions of a random Hollywood pedestrian.

Along with the nods to Visa in his announcements, you’ll hear fun facts about Vancouver and even a special to BC Lions fans. Here’s a look at a couple of the 14 other announcements you might hear:

  • Hello transit riders, remember what your mom used to say: please keep your feet off the furniture. And also remember: you can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you.
  • Hi BC Lions fans, stop fumbling around with change. If you’re taking transit after the game, you can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you. Visa. Everywhere you want to be.
  • Hello Vancouver (Hello SkyTrain riders), did you know that Stanley Park is over 3 times bigger than Central Park? If you’re headed there, know that you can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you.
