Teenager in hospital after incident at Sunnyside Park pool

A 14-year-old boy was rushed to hospital Saturday evening after an incident at the Sunnyside Park swimming pool.

Toronto paramedics told 680 NEWS they responded to a call shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Previous reports suggested the boy suffered a head injury but Toronto police Sgt. Reddin says the boy was in the pool, swimming with friends when he went into some form of medical distress.

Lifeguards at the pool were alerted to his condition and they removed him from the pool. The boy was found to be unconscious and without vital signs.

Lifeguards performed CPR while paramedics were contacted. When they arrived, the teen was rushed to hospital via emergency run.

Sunnnyside Park’s swimming pool, along with several of Toronto’s outdoor pools opened for the season Saturday.​​
