Paramedics say a 32-year-old female was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Her condition was later upgraded to stable.

Eleven minutes later, paramedics were called to a nearby residence where an elderly woman was found without vital signs. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman has been identified as as Elena Marcucci, 84, of Toronto.

Police say they believe the two incidents are related but would not elaborate on what the connection might be between the two victims and the suspect.
