Police probe 2 GTA shootings, 1 with life-threatening injuries

A man is in critical condition in hospital following an overnight shooting in the east end of the city — one of two in the Toronto area on Saturday.

Police say they were called by hospital security just after 4 a.m. about a man had been brought in with a gunshot wound.

Police traced the shooting back to an abandoned residence in a plaza in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Brimley Road in Scarborough.

No further details have been released about a motive or suspect.

 

Later, around 7:20 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot near Hurontario Street and Elia Avenue, south of Eglinton Avenue West.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Peel police are asking any witnesses to come forward.
