Search resumes Friday for missing Toronto boater along Ajax waterfront

A search and rescue operation has resumed Friday morning, one day after a unmanned boat washed ashore along the Ajax waterfront.

Durham police said the marine unit, along with the Canadian Coast Guard, returned to the water around 8 a.m. to search for 31-year-old Kevin Wong of Toronto.

Wong’s 17-foot aluminum boat was first spotted around 11 a.m. Thursday on the Lake Ontario shores near Rotary Park.

Witnesses told CityNews Wong who is a regular at Frenchman’s Bay, just east of where the boat was found.

Wong is described as male, asian, approximately 5-foot-10 with a thin build and a black beard. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and white runners.

Police said they are still considering this a rescue opeartion.
