Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a motorcyclist died on Highway 407.
Provincial police was called to a report of an abandoned motorcycle on the highway near Highway 404 in Richmond Hill around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night.
Officers investigated the scene, but did not find the rider.
Just under two hours later at 11:15 p.m., police were advised of a man in the same area who was suffering from injuries that were the result of a motorcycle collision.
Officers went back to the scene and the victim was transferred to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The SIU was informed of the incident and invoked their mandate. No further details about the victim have been made available.
