A 25-year-old Toronto man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting in a Toronto park last week.

Police said Michael Lewis, 30, was shot around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 2, while he was at a memorial service at Coronation Park with his partner and two children.

It’s alleged four men had approached Lewis and, after a brief conversation, one of them pulled out a gun and began firing at close range.

First responders attempted to save Lewis, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, homicide detectives and the Gun and Gang Task Force arrested Andrew Douglas and charged him with first-degree murder.

He was due to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday morning.

Police believe Lewis knew the men who approached him and also said he had a minor criminal record.
