A 27-year-old man is dead and two paramedics are injured in a two-vehicle crash in Brampton on Wednesday night.

Peel police responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. in the McMurchy Avenue and Queen Street area where a BMW and an ambulance were involved in a crash.

Const. Danny Martini told CityNews it was a head-on collision.

“Initial investigation tells us that the ambulance was at a stop. They were waiting to make a left-hand turn,” she said.

“They were on Queen Street when the other vehicle came through the intersection and collided with them.”

The driver of the BMW suffered critical injuries. Paramedics rushed to his aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Two male paramedics in the ambulance suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition. The ambulance was not transporting a patient or responding to a call at the time of the crash.

Roads in the area are closed for the investigation.
