A 44-year-old woman has been rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition after being injured by an ‘edged weapon’ in Mississauga.

Peel police say the incident happened near Highway 401 and Winston Churchill Blvd. around 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Peel Police Const. Akhil Mooken says officers attended the scene for a “weapons offence.”

“We do not have any suspect information at this time, however we can confirm that her injuries were sustained from an edged weapon,” Mooken told CityNews at the scene.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated Peel police say the weapon may have been a bow-and-arrow. They have not confirmed what type of weapon was used.
