Twenty-seven people, including the driver, were taken to hospital after a TTC bus crashed into a hydro pole at Bathurst Street and Davenport Road.
Police and paramedics responded to a collision at the intersection, just outside the TTC Hillcrest Complex building around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
There were 45 people on the bus, and three suffered minor injuries.
The three injured people were taken to hospital via ambulance. Paramedics say 24 others were moved to another TTC bus and were taken to hospital escorted by an ambulance as a precaution. They do not appear to be injured.
Other passengers on the bus declined aid. They took another TTC bus and continued on their journey.
Police say there will be a power outage in the area and traffic lights will be affected due to repairs being made to the damaged hydro pole. They advise treating the intersection as a four-way stop.
The following road closures are in effect:
- Eastbound traffic is blocked on Davenport and closed at Christie Street.
- Westbound traffic is being diverted to northbound Bathurst.
- Northbound Bathurst is closed at Dupont Street.
- Southbound Bathurst is closed at Nina Street.
There is no word on what caused the crash.
