Police have charged an 18-year-old Orillia man after a crash in Mississauga that killed a mother and her two-year-old boy and critically injured the father.

Around 2 a.m. on Nov. 1, Khushbu Aroro, 31, her husband Saket Dogra, 33, and their son Prakrit Dogra were in a Nissan going east on Burnhamthorpe Road when it was broadsided by a Hyundai that was going north on Mavis.

The Hyundai continued north about 50 to 75 metres before coming to a rest next to a sidewalk. The vehicle caught on fire, but the man inside was able to escape without serious injuries.

Aroro and Prakrit died, while Dogra had life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

On Tuesday, Peel police arrested Evan Campbell and charged him with two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

He is being held for a bail hearing in Brampton on Wednesday.
