Girl, 6, in hospital with serious burns after clothes catch fire

A six-year-old girl is in hospital with serious burns after her clothes caught fire in Toronto’s east end on Saturday.

It happened around noon in a highrise apartment on Teesdale Place, near Danforth and Pharmacy avenues.

Toronto Fire said the child had burns to the lower body.

It wasn’t clear how the fire started.

Paramedics took the girl to hospital in serious condition.

Her injuries are not life-threatening, and she suffered burns to 18 per cent of her body, police said.

An investigation into the incident has been completed and has been deemed an accident.
