Vehicle crashes into storefront, causes gas leak

By News Staff

A minivan crashed into a storefront Saturday evening, creating a domino effect of problems in the Danforth Village area.

Police say a van collided with another vehicle in the Danforth Avenue and Dawes Road area shortly after 6 p.m.

It then plowed into a storefront and struck a gas line in the process.

The building was evacuated and Danforth Road was immediately closed in both directions from Dawes Road to Main Street.

Police say no serious injuries were reported.

City workers and Enbridge staff managed to cap the leak just after 9:30 p.m. and the roads were opened shortly thereafter.

The cause of the collision is unclear at this time and no charges have been laid.
