1 injured in Markham and Finch area shooting

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after an overnight shooting in Toronto’s northeast end.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Crittenden Square, in the Finch Avenue East and Markham Road area, around 1:30 a.m.

Police said they received multiple calls about the sounds of gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived on scene they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a trauma centre.

During their investigation, officers found a firearm nearby.

Witnesses told police they saw a grey car fleeing the area at the time of the shooting.
