Two people were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a building on Birchmount Road south of St. Clair Avenue on Tuesday.
Toronto police were called to the building at 2:16 p.m. after witnesses found a man outside.
Police said the 40-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators then went to a unit on the 8th floor of the building, where they found a 30-year-old woman also suffering life-threatening injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police on Wednesday called one of the deaths the city’s second homicide of the year, not specifying which one. Police also said there are no outstanding suspects.
Police would not elaborate on the cause of death, but said the victims suffered significant trauma.
Det. Rob Choe said they are in the preliminary stages of the investigation and have not determined the relationship between the victims.
This is the city’s second homicide of the year.
