Police have identified the woman found dead in an apartment on Birchmount Road in an apparent murder-suicide as the city’s second homicide victim of 2019.

Police were called to the building south of St. Clair Avenue on Tuesday at 2:16 p.m. after witnesses found an injured man outside.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers then went to a unit on the 8th floor and found a woman also suffering life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time police said one of the deceased was the city’s second homicide victim of 2019, but did not specify whether it was the man or woman.

In a release on Thursday police said the man allegedly stabbed the woman.

She has been identified as Lorraine Kerubo Ogoti, 30, of Toronto.

Police say a post-mortem revealed the man died of blunt force trauma. He has been identified as Mowlid Hassan, 40, of Toronto.

An investigation is ongoing but police are not looking for any other suspects.
