Toronto records first pedestrian fatality of 2019

A 60-year-old man is Toronto’s first pedestrian fatality of 2019.

The victim was riding a personal mobility device on Close Avenue, south of Queen Street West on Monday just after 8 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle turning left onto Close Ave.

He sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.

He died on Tuesday.

No charges have been laid at this point.

Police are asking anyone with security or dash-cam video of the incident to contact investigators.
